"Sun sets in my guinness" in missouri black walnut. Rolling figure gives the illusion of nitrogen ripples cascading up the glass. A most unique piece of air dried missouri black walnut has been deeply inlaid with various exotic and domestic woods in the traditional mosaic way to create flow and balance within an already wonderful piece wood. The project begins with a unique piece of wood where i find a path within it to exploit its character.

I do this by sketching with the grain and around knots and cracks to strike a balance that works for the individual piece. The drawings are routed 3/8 deep into the wood, then the fun begins by selecting tiny individually cut wood triangles of various species to create mosaic patterns within the recessed area.

The voids are filled with epoxy mixed with rosewood dust. I use caribbean rosewood dust because it is dark without being black, and warm toned yet neutral.

Hung by two standard picture hangers but has been raised out from the wall 3/4 to give a natural drop shadow framing. 51" x 18.5" x.

This item is made of chechen and walnut, padauk, bloodwood, purpleheart, maple, primavera, zircote, epoxy, rosewood, carribean rosewood.
