Felicea travelled from rhodesia in the 1970's to marry an englishman. She had never seen a british winter and so this was a time for playing like a child in the snow. I recall her fun-loving nature and she appeared to me as the most exotic person i had ever met. In the summer she wore brightly coloured kaftans and an african head wrap. I have used some pieces of wedgewood blue china as this was her favourite pottery.

Felicea would find this mosaic, in honour of her memory hilarious. Unusual, exotic, bright, rustic gift for a loved one or yourself. Handcrafted with love, tiles hand-cut and carefully selected to reflect the light with an eclectic mix of stained glass, china, mirror glass, millefiori etc. Millefiori are tiny mosaic pieces that add texture and interest. The base is wood has been sourced from a scrap store, where items are diverted from landfill.

This has been made on my kitchen table in lockdown and was inspired by the beautiful yorkshire countryside and thoughts of far-away places although this item has taken many hours of my time i have loved making it for you to enjoy. This piece is ready to hang. Please note: there may be some slightly sharp/rough edges and uneven textures due to the nature of the materials. This item is made of stained glass and glass shards, wedgewood blue pottery, broken crockery, glass mirror tiles, recycled glass, wooden backing, sandy grouting, white grouting.
