The piece is freestanding, but is also wired on the back for hanging. It measure 9" tall by about 12" opened by about 3 deep. No further framing is necessary. It is signed and dated on the back. This piece was begun entirely through intuition.

I had this idea to take photographs and then recreate them abstractly with mixed media assemblage materials. This particular photograph was just magic. I went out into the forest at lower macleay park in portland, oregon, looked up into the trees and spotted this majestic forest being. He was way up in the canopy made of brightly colored mosses (no filter) and i immediately recognized him as the prince of the forest.

I had the image enlarged and framed it in the left side of the cigar box. I recreated his mirror image on the right side of the cigar box with vintage building blocks, tangram style and filled in the spaced with silver bee bees. This item is made of cigar box and photograph, wood glue, diamond glaze, bee bees, vintage wooden blocks, balsa wood, glass.
