This is a mixed media mosaic on an ancient egyptian theme. The centrepiece is a vintage ankh, which was the egyptian symbol of life, and other imagery includes scarab beetles and even some little pyramids. The mosaic is constructed from glass tiles and polymer clay, as well as vintage jewellery pieces and glass cabochons. It is mounted on slate sourced from delabole in cornwall - at over 800 years it is the oldest working slate quarry in england, and probably the world. The slate is ready drilled and screw fixings in a black finish are included to hang the slate. Alternatively it can be displayed on a shelf or stand. The metallic finish reacts beautifully when illuminated and the piece would benefit from being positioned where it can catch the light. This mosaic measures h30 x w18 x d1.5 cm (12 x 7 x 0.5 inches). This item is made of slate and polymer clay, glass tiles, vintage jewellery, glass cabochons, mica powders, wax.
